Highlights
What you can expect
We meet at Shine Aviation Services at Geraldton Airport. On arrival, check in with reception. Your pilot shows you on a map where you will be flying, then gives you a safety brief. Once onboard, each passenger is given a headset. This allows you to hear the onboard commentary and ask the pilot questions.
Once airborne, the fixed-wing plane flies over Geraldton and its harbor and then tracks the north coast for approximately 25 minutes to the pretty fishing town of Port Gregory, near the mouth of the Hutt River. From there, cover the short distance to the Hutt Lagoon, where the Pink Lake is.
Here, you can enjoy the beautiful views as the plane conducts orbits, providing you with numerous photo opportunities. You learn how the lake gets its vivid colour from the presence of carotenoid-producing algae and more fascinating information.
The plane then tracks directly back to Geraldton Airport.
